James Jalbert, DVM

Veterinarian Associate

Dr. Jalbert was born and raised in Southern California.

He graduated magna cum laude from Cal Poly Pomona in 2016 with a B.S. in Animal Sciences. He worked for two years at Imperial Highway Animal Clinic as an assistant, which is where he met a wonderful pup who was abandoned at the clinic and later went home with him to join the family pack.

He attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (the same as Dr. John Adam) and graduated in 2022. He spent two and a half years living on the island of St. Kitts in the southern Caribbean, where he fell in love with beach volleyball.

The last several months of school on the island coincided with the COVID lockdowns. Thankfully, the border opened in time for him to finish his clinical year at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri (go Tigers!).

While there, he took special rotations in ultrasound and advanced radiography. He returned to Imperial Highway Animal Clinic immediately after completing vet school and has worked there ever since.

He currently has one pup, whose beautiful mug graces the walls of Exam Room 2. He and his husky, Keo, have walked over 17,000 miles together!

Mirna Metery, DVM

Dr. Mirna Metry’s passion for veterinary medicine began at just 14 years old, when she started volunteering and interning at an animal hospital. At 17, she began working in shelter medicine while earning her bachelor’s degree. During that time, she continued to grow within the field and eventually became a shelter manager before attending veterinary school.

Dr. Metry graduated from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2022. Her professional interests include general practice, urgent care, and surgery. She is passionate about providing compassionate, high-quality care and building strong relationships with both her patients and their families.
